Made up this new flyer for our gamer’s club to coincide with the addition of D&D roleplaying to our usual gaming fare. We had a blast last night playing Smash Bros., Minecraft, and creating characters for a D&D campaign. So if you’re into gaming, video or otherwise, please join us Wednesday evenings. All ages (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult) and skill levels welcome!

Where the Wild Peeps Are!

In April, the ubiquitous seasonal candy makes its way into the library for our (first annual?) Peeps Show. This is a fun event for the whole family which includes literary-themed dioramas and (hopefully) a very punny time for all. Anyone can make a shoebox sized diorama with a literary allusion or theme and enter it into the MPL Peeps Show. Here is our schedule of Peeps Show events:

  • April 1 - 8: We begin accepting Peep Show Dioramas for display.
  • April 6: Diorama building session for kids: bring your own shoebox; we supply Peeps & embellishments.
  • April 9-23: Peeple’s Choice Voting.
  • April 24: Announce winners!
  • April 30: Deadline to pick up dioramas.

I love how the library looks in the early morning before the fluorescent lights turn on.

Missoula Public Library and Run Wild Missoula are hosting a new book discussion group for those interested in running, whether you are a runner or not. We’re hoping the great books and discussions will inspire all to participate in MPL’s Second Annual Book’n It for the Library Fun Run/Walk on July 27th.

Every other month, we’ll get together to discuss a book about running. MPL will provide snacks and drinks catered by Civitella Cafe. There is an optional 30 minute run or walk before each discussion. See the schedule for details or email library assistant and program coordinator Jessica Zephyrs.

Ten copies of each book will be available for checkout and ten books will be available as free give-aways. The books will be given on a first come, first served basis.

Documentaries about running will be shown twice, on the months we don’t have book discussions.

All events take place in the Large Meeting Room at the Missoula Public Library.

Montana State Library produced this amazing video that highlights Missoula’s Web on Wheels Bus. It’s great to see this mobile branch of the library reach so many people who don’t have easy access to computers and the Internet. Way to go, Jodi and Jess!
